I Love Cappybara

Despite the fact that they are the size of a large dog, and can weigh as much as an adult human, cappybara are still classed as rodents. And yes, they do exist outside the strange reality of jaw-dropping social media memes. For scale, they are frequently portrayed with pets, such as cats, their rodent-like features at odds with their gigantic size. Even without captions, cappybara are effortlessly instagramable with their distinctly unphased expressions. Although many photos show them interacting with members of their own species, there are also snapshots of cappybara chilling in domestic environments. The I Love Cappybara Facebook Group is linked to Capybara's Planet, a group that promotes Cappybara-themed merchandize.

Animal Lovers Society

With World Animal Day upcoming on October 4th, we  will be featuring a few animal friendly communities this week.

Animal Lovers Society is one of those Facebook groups that will surely tug at your heartstrings, especially if you are a pet parent yourself. Dogs and the magic of dog ownership is definitely at the heart of many of the posts. There's plenty of love for dearly departed doggy angels and also everyday moments that define life with dogs. Here and there a feline inevitably pops up as well, and there are some posts featuring other animals - rare albinos and barnyard newborns for example.

Animal Cognition, the Emotional and Intellectual Lives of Animals

Do animals exist solely to serve the needs of humanity? Many people believe not, and various sources quoted by group members refer to the intelligence and integrity of animals, stories that are often juxtaposed with those of the cruel and inhumane treatment of animals, particularly those that represent a commodity. Threads on the discussion board include 'The human "omnivore" myth', 'Animal Rights: Is there a line?', 'The Inner World of Farm Animals', 'Hunting: Actually Good for Animals?' and 'WORLD MANIFESTATION FOR THE ANIMAL RIGHTS 2009'. The information page lists book and documentary sources that deal with animal intelligence and there are also various links to other internet resources in wall posts.

What's great about this group: Learn more about the fascinating creatures that share the planet with us.

A word of caution: There are images on the gallery that may be considered disturbing to some.
