Buckle up, my friends. We're about to touch on another spot of internet weirdness again. Liminal is an interesting word, which entered my vocabulary around the same time I first heard of the back-rooms theory. Yep, one of those deep dives that originated on 4chan and alludes to a kind of extra-dimensional crossroads suggested by transitional emptiness. The group liminal photography acts as a kind of crowd-sourced repository for places that evoke the moodspace of the liminal. What counts? Abandoned spaces such as dead malls, disused bowling alleys; places still haunted by the ghosts of past relevance. But also, landscapes of quietude. Unfinished construction projects. Lone churches. Dinghy basements. Crumbling Asylums. Places that now seem incapable of attracting anything other than dark lore.
