Stonehenge Celebrations

21 June marks the Summer Solstice as well as the longest day of the year - if you're in the Northern Hemisphere, that is. In the British Isles, Stonehenge becomes the site of an annual celebration. Thousands hold their breath as the sun ascends directly behind the Heel Stone, bathing the ancient stone circle in golden light. It is part of what makes this iconic site so very fascinating. The spirit is infectious, as can be seen in the photographs just uploaded from this year's event. There was a live feed at sunrise and earlier posts shared useful information for those planning to attend. Be sure to bookmark this group for next year's solstice.
